Built in the late 1770’s as a boarding house for the brave navvies and miners who built the once longest tunnel in Britain…

The Tunnel House has been refreshing locals and travellers alike for centuries.

We are in the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), located next to the ornate Coates portal of the now-closed Sapperton canal tunnel. A much-loved rural inn, you will find us down our own private track just off the lane between the villages of Tarlton and Coates, a few miles down the Roman Fosse Way from the market town of Cirencester. Our gates had been closed for 6 years but are now open again since the beginning of June. There is limited parking at the pub (please park considerately in the new parking bays!), especially at weekends, with more space at Tarlton Bridge, just before the pub’s private drive. Do walk up to the pub, either up our driveway or on one of the many official footpaths.
